TOKYO: US President Donald Trump on Monday described North Korea's nuclear missile programme as a "threat" to the world on a trip to Asia dominated by the crisis.

The programme is "a threat to the civilised world and international peace and stability," Trump told reporters after a summit meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
