VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has started extensive reviews of its all departments and branches. The exercise has been taken up in wake of the lull in functioning of the civic body due to implementation of the model code of conduct for the assembly polls.
Sources said that the review process started on November 2 will continue till November 13. Head of each department and its officials are being called for meeting by municipal commissioner Vinod Rao. The departments are being asked to produce details of the work done so far and the pending works. Also, elaborate discussions are being held regarding long-pending works and civic issues in the city.
Sources said that the departments were also being asked to ensure that the works taken up in the last budget begin in time. Those that need to be completed in the current fiscal are also being prioritised.
Focus is also being laid on ensuring that the expenses of the civic body go down. Various measures of cutting costs are being examined in the meetings.
Sources said that in wake of the poll code, new projects could not be announced or taken up. Also, the elected wing is largely busy in gearing up for the polls. This gives ample time to officials to conduct a review.
