Turmeric traders have received some fresh demand. “After few days, turmeric traders have received some upcountry demand. Turmeric farmers brought 3,700 bags and the traders have purchased good number for sending to North India.

The traders purchased for their local supply too”, said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. He said the price of the turmeric in the futures has not improved. The price of the root variety decreased by ₹400 a quintal in the Regulated Marketing Committee. But the root variety increased by ₹100 a quintal in the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard.

At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, finger turmeric sold at ₹5,755 to 8,789 a quintal, root variety sold at ₹5,121 to 8,309 a quintal. Of the arrival of 2,215 bags 801 bags were sold.

At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger turmeric sold at₹7,229 to 8,789 a quintal, root variety sold at ₹7,180 to 7,979 a quintal. Of the arrival of 491 bags 395 bags were sold.
