Navi Mumbai: An Indian Mujahideen undertrial Naki Ahmed Wasi Ahmed Sheikh (28), who was arrested in connection with the Mumbai triple blasts on July 13, 2011, was injured in Taloja jail after another inmate assaulted him with a tin sheet on Monday afternoon.
The brawl between Mr. Sheikh and Amir Khan, an undertrial arrested in a murder case, occurred in their barrack.
“Mr. Shaikh and Mr. Khan were in the same barrack and some fracas between them led to the attack. Sheikh was taken to Vashi NMMC hospital and treated for the injuries he received on his neck. He was later taken to the jail. A case has been registered with the Kharghar police,” jail Superintendent Sadanand Gaikwad said.
“We have registered the case under Section 324 of the IPC for causing hurt by dangerous weapon, and will arrest Mr. Khan,” sub-inspector Seema Mundhe said.
