NEW DELHI: Midcap stocks Indian Bank, Vakrangee and 3M India surged over 5 per cent in Monday's trade, contributing their share to BSE Midcap index rally.

The BSE Midcap index hit a fresh record high of 16,816 in Monday's trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap index was trading 0.52 per cent up at 16,801 around 01:30 pm (IST), while benchmark Sensex was 0.34 per cent up at 33,799. The NSE Nifty50 index was 0.21 per cent up at 10,475.

Shares of Adani Enterprises (up 4.73 per cent), Tata Global Beverages (up 3.80 per cent), Union Bank of India (up 3.78 per cent), Wockhardt (up 3.32 per cent) and Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (up 2.81 per cent) were also trading up in the BSE Midcap index around that time.

However, Reliance Communications (down 5.62 per cent), GE T&D India (down 2.40 per cent), Page Industries (down 2.33 per cent), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (down 2.19 per cent), Reliance Infrastructure (down 2.14 per cent), Berger Paints (India) (down 1.78 per cent), Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals (down 1.54 per cent) and IDFC Bank (down 1.53 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.

Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki India, Tata Consultancy Services, ICICI Bank and Adani Ports were among the top gainers in the Sensex kitty.

On the contrary, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, Asian Paints and NTPC were among the top losers.
