Surat: The police have prepared a plan which will increase their visibility on most of the roads across the city. They have identified 187 points across the city where police presence will be maintained throughout the busy hours. Police teams will remain present at 112 points for 3 to 10 hours during daytime and at 75 points for 24 hours.
Police have already begun implementing the plan in different parts of the city and will be keeping an eye on all entry and exit points to the city and at important locations that include diamond and textile markets. Police teams comprising a minimum of two members that will remain present at the identified points are supposed to react to any crime taking place nearby.
"There is movement of people on city roads whenever crime happens. Hence, we have planned to increase police presence on roads. This will help prevent crime and boost confidence of citizens with regard to their security," city police commissioner Satish Sharma said.
"We are trying to increase visibility of police on city roads. This will help us to react immediately in case there is any crime. Also, a citizen can seek police help at the earliest since there will cops on a road near them," Sharma added.
