SURAT: A man was arrested in Bilimora town of Navsari district for allegedly possessing a country-made pistol with an empty magazine and three cartridges worth Rs11,800 on Saturday. The accused is wanted in a loot case lodged against him in Rajasthan.
A team of rapid response cell of inspector general of police, Surat range, nabbed Hiraram alias Harish alias Hariya alias Hira Talsajiram Devasi, a resident of Rojra village, Sumerpura, Pali in Rajasthan, from Bilimora town. The accused was living in Jamna Nagar Society of Bilimora to avoid arrest.
Devasi was booked for loot at Balotra police station of Rajasthan. He has been handed over to Bilimora police station for further investigation.
Bilimora police are investigating if Devasi had brought the weapon to sell.
The accused was nabbed during efforts to catch those with illegal weapon before assembly elections.
