Jon Hamm's next is a supernatural thriller titled Off Season; film will be shot in Canadian tundra
Multi-Emmy nominated actor Jon Hamm, who is best known for his role as Don Draper on Mad Men, is all set to play the lead in a supernatural thriller titled Off Season which will be directed by first time feature director Jonathan van Tulleken, reports Variety.
The film is based on Tulleken’s successful BAFTA-nominated short of the same name, and will be shot in the Canadian tundra in early 2018. The film is centered on a man who is looking for his missing elderly father and discovers shocking family secrets as well as vengeful supernatural forces at work.
“I’ve been thinking obsessively about taking this material to the big screen for several years. It’s a story and world that I feel like I have lived and breathed,” said the director van Tulleken. The original short film is an acclaimed horror in which a man follows his dog through the cold Canadian tundra and discovers a terrifying secret.
“I never imagined I’d have the opportunity to do this with such a highly esteemed team around me. Nira Park and Miles Dale are two of the most gifted and respected producers working in film, and on top of that, to have Jon Hamm in the lead role is the kind of good fortune few first time filmmakers are afforded. I cannot wait to see him bring his immense talent to the role of Tenn,” said van Tulleken.
Big Talk Picture’s Nira Park of Baby Driver fame and her Scott Pilgrim vs the World collaborator J Miles Dale are producing the film, through his Demilo Production banner. According to Dale, “The film is going to offer incredible scope that will be breathtaking as a big screen experience. The vast hostile environs truly become a character that turns nasty in this picture.”
Jon Hamm was last seen on the big screen in Baby Driver.
