NOIDA: Following the approval by ministry of consumer affairs to implement the international, London-based Hallmark Standard of 14 carat, 18 carat and 22 carat to gold jewellery from January next year, the Noida Jewellers Association wrote to Union Minister of Consumer Affairs Ramvilas Paswan on Monday to include a fourth category of 20 carat in order to cater to the interests of the small and medium businessmen.
"We've requested Paswan that 20 carat (with value of 83.33% purity) be applied by government of India. Jewellery in 20 carat is light and strong in weight," Sunil Kumar Jain, chairman, Federation of Industrialists, Traders and Jewellers Associations (FITJA) told TOI.
