JAIPUR: Advocating on the need for giving education to children, chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Sunday said that education is the best gift anyone can give to the children.

She was speaking while announcing the scholarship started by the family of former DGP of Rajasthan Dharam Pal Gupta at a function at the Rajasthan Police Academy.

"It is seen that policemen rarely give ample time to their children due to hectic and long duty hours. Thus, we have started this scholarship for these children which will help them not only in getting proper education but also in getting aid when it comes to get professional education and higher studies abroad," Raje said.

She added that scholarship will enable the children of police to get basic and higher studies.

Speaking on the occasion, Pradeep Gupta, founder of Dharam Pal Gupta Foundation, said, "It was a dream of my father to do something for Rajasthan police where he had worked. His dream inspired our family to do this."

Meanwhile, Raje also met the family of young IPS officer Devashish who died recently. She met the IPS officer's wife Kanaklata Singh and paid tributes.
