BERHAMPUR: Police claimed to have gathered crucial information about the murder of BJD leader Laxmidutta Pradhan after visiting different places where the prime accused Krushna Chandra Nayak and N Duryadhan Reddy took shelter.
In September, Laxmidutta was brutally murdered in broad daylight by a group of armed miscreants in front of his house at Chhatrapur.
Krushna and Duryadhan were arrested from a guest house in Dehradun on October 28. Police had taken the duo on a six-day remand. During interrogation, the two reportedly admitted before the police that they were assisted by BJP leader Golak Mahapatra in the murder. The cops had then issued notice to Mahapatra who was grilled by Chhatrapur police for over three hours on November 1.
After committing the crime, Krushna and Duryadhan had briefly stayed at Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Kharagpur, Santragachi and Deheradun before police nabbed them. A special police team accompanied by a doctor and the prime accused duo had visited these places and reached Dehradun on Saturday. The team has gathered required information and will reach Chhatrapur on Monday, said Assistant SP Ajay Pratap Swain.
He informed that police will pray the court for the accused’s remand for a few more days and said some more persons involved in the murder and who are on the run will be be nabbed soon.
Meanwhile, posters demanding arrest of BJP leader Mahapatra were seen at various places in Berhampur and Chhatrapur.
