Curtains down on Hampi Utsav

HAMPI:The three-day Hampi utsav concluded here on Sunday with several cultural and traditional events marking the event.The world heritage site Hampi witnessed a gathering of thousands of people. The stages around the Virupaksha temple were fully packed. Every monument around this place were filled with people. The Makoota hills wore a colourful look with Tanali Rama Mantap being lit up. People gathered around the venues, which had organised events like rock climbing and allied activities.

The stage near Sasavekallu Ganapa hosted the events for local talents who performed folk songs and dance. The police had a tough time in managing the crowd.The district administration had arranged parking arrangements for private vehicles and buses at a distance, so that there will not be any traffic jam.
Various national and international artistes performed at the main MP Prakash stage.  

Speaking about the event, District Minister Santosh Lad said the event was a grand success. Over 5 lakh people attended the events. The district administration had organised 405 events as compared to 365 of the last year.“One thing we observed is that the crowd comprises mainly youngsters. We will think about options to attract more youngsters in future,” he said.

This year’s event included laser and sound and light show and several adventure sports events.
The most popular event was fashion show, where several models from various parts of the world walked the ramp in traditional attire. The tourists seemed to be moved by the illumination of the monuments.
