NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index was trading as the top gainer among the sectoral indices on NSE in Monday's trade.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 1.14 per cent up at 11,443 around 11:20 am (IST), with shares of Tata Motors (DVR) (up 3.79 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 2.95 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 2.39 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 1.87 per cent) as the top gainers.

Shares of TVS Motor Company (up 1.65 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 1.25 per cent), Bajaj Auto (up 0.76 per cent), Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.39 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (up 0.34 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.08 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp (up 0.06 per cent) were also trading in the green.

However, MRF (down 0.50 per cent), Eicher Motors (down 0.38 per cent), Bosch (down 0.28 per cent), Apollo Tyres (down 0.21 per cent) and Exide Industries (down 0.20 per cent) were trading in the red around that time.

Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty50 trimmed losses to trade flat, underpinned by buying in select auto, FMCG, realty and PSU bank stocks.

However, metal, IT, pharma and oil & gas stocks were experiencing selling pressure.

The Nifty50 index was 0.07 per cent down at 10,445, while the BSE Sensex was 0.05 per cent up at 33,701 around 11.20 am (IST).

Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Infratel, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation, Tata Motors, Aurobindo Pharma and UltraTech Cement were among the top gainers in the Nifty50 index.

On the other hand, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank and IndusInd Bank were among the top losers.
