Six labourers were critically injured in an explosion in an oil mill factory near Uklana town of Hisar district at 3 am on Sunday. Deputy superintendent of police Jaipal Singh reached the spot soon after the incident and said fire tenders controlled the fire after four hours.

“Fifteen 15 labourers were injured in the incident and six of them received more than 50 per cent burn injuries. Four of them received more than 90 per cent injuries,” said the DSP.

The injured have been admitted to Agroha Medical College, Rohtak’s PGIMS and a private hospital in Hisar.

According to the DSP, initially it appears that the fire took place because of boiler bursting but the exact reason can only be ascertained by a team of experts. “We have lodged an FIR against the manager and owners of the factory (Ashish Oil Mill). However, no arrest has been made yet. An inquiry would be conducted to ascertain their negligence,” he said.

The DSP further said the oil mill was shut for the past one year and was opened for functioning on Saturday.
