GURUGRAM: Residents of Sector 21, 22B and 23 on Saturday threatened to hold a protest as the sectors are reeling under a severe water crisis for the past 10 days.

"There seems to be no end to the water crisis. We haven't got a drop of water for the past ten days. We will now hold a major protest, if the water supply doesn't resume in the next two days," said Rakhi Gandhi Sharma, a resident of Sector 21.

According to residents, the sectors don't get water directly from the Basai water treatment plant. "We get water from differenr storage tanks. If there is any issue with supply to a storage tank, water problem persists in the area. Also, MCG has decided to give our share of water to a nearby village. All these factors have made the situation worse," said Col. Omed Singh, president, Sector 21 RWA.

All three sectors have been dependent on private water tankers . "A group of houses have been buying water tankers for the past ten days. We are forced to pay Rs 1000 for eachtanker," said Sajjan Kumar, a resident of Sector 23.

An official of MCG said there was some technical issue at one of the storage units. "We have received complaints and are working on it. However, water was supplied to residents on both Friday and Saturday."
