Heavy rain lashed many parts of Puducherry on Saturday evening. The downpour inundated many low lying residential areas and caused traffic disruption due to waterlogging on arterial roads.
The rain that started around 3 p.m. continued till late in the day causing hardship to residents and weekend tourists.
According to local weathermen, the town recorded 43.55 mm of rainfall till 8. 30 a.m on Saturday.
Several low lying residential areas such as Jyothi Nagar, Vasanth Nagar, Aravind Nagar, Durga Nagar in Mudaliarpet were affected. Water logging has been reported in Reddiyarpalayam, Krishna Nagar, Ouppalam and Muthialpet areas, Revenue officials said.
Municipal authorities drained water from residential areas and vacant plots using pump sets.
Heavy rains continued to pound Cuddalore district on Saturday affecting normal life.
