GREATER NOIDA: A meeting of over 35 RWAs and social organisations from Greater Noida including sectors Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, Omicron as well as societies such as Eldeco and Parsvnath sectors 93 A (on Noida expressway), 36, 37 and Swarn Nagri etc. was held with officer on special duty (OSD) Vibha Chahal and Greater Noida authority officials including Rajeev Tyagi general manager, Anand Mohan senior manager and more where host of civic issue were raised by RWAs. These include need for speed breakers in front of schools, U turns to avoid wrong side traffic movement especially near Vishwa Bharti School, removal of encroachment, covering of open manholes, cleaning of parks, street lights and more.
The meeting that was held at Greater Noida stadium to address problems of the city had residents raise long pending issues of open manholes (pending since over three months), cleaning of sewers, parks and replacement of non-functioning street lights.
While OSD Chahal gave immediate instructions for covering of manholes on priority basis, she also took note of the demand for speed breakers and U turns or a roundabout especially in front of Vishwa Bharti School, which has become a major point of accidents and traffic mess near the school. "OSD Chahal has assured that the demand for speed breakers near schools will be looked into as well as U turn, especially near Vishwa Bharti school to avoid accidents and wrong side traffic movement from knowledge park side," said Alok Singh, founder member of Active Citizens Group, (a residents' body in Greater Noida that raises and addresses civic concerns in the area periodically).
Singh, who was present in the meeting with a delegation, also apprised OSD Chahal for the need to remove rampant encroachment of small carts especially near Pari Chowk and residential sectors. "Despite the provision for local markets and small kiosks, these carts have literally become a permanent fixture at these busy junctions with some even google tagging their location. We've requested OSD Chahal to look into the specific vending zones for all such encroachment. Else, they will become permanent roadblocks once the metro connectivity starts for Greater Noida," said Singh.
On repair of street lights, OSD Chahal maintained that the process of e-tenders is in its completion stage and soon the problem will be addressed. "She further gave instructions for maintenance of parks, regular cleaning of sectors with timely garbage collection and a check on stray dog menace," said Hairnder Bhati RWA general secretary sector Beta 1.
The RWAs also urged authority officials present to apprise the residents in advance by way of public notice or circulars to RWAs on any policy they frame with regard to Greater Noida residents. "We are the end users and best equipped to offer valuable suggestions with regard to any policy in favour of residents or sectors. Hence we urged OSD Chahal to run through, any such policy prior to its implementation, with sector RWAs / residents of the area for their feedback/suggestions," said Singh.
