In a hit-and-run case, a 27-year-old was killed and three others were injured when a speeding SUV hit two pedestrians and then rammed a motorcycle being driven by two brothers on Friday morning. The incident was reported from south Delhi’s Saket area.
Around 9.30 a.m., the police received three PCR calls informing about a major accident near the flower mandi in Khoka Market.
According to the police, a speeding car hit two pedestrians near the Asian Market injuring them, and then rashly took a left turn towards Pushp Vihar. “The driver fled towards Khoka market and hit a motorcycle on the way,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Chinmoy Biswal.
The bike-borne men were later identified as Surender and Narender, residents of Sangam Vihar, and the pedestrians were identified as Dinesh and Raghubir, residents of Khanpur village. “When the police reached the spot, all four victims were rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where Narender was declared brought dead. The other three are undergoing treatment,” said Mr Biswal adding that the SUV driver managed to flee.
Locals told the police that when the car hit the bike, the impact was such that Narender flung in the air before hitting the ground. “He was bleeding profusely. Chances of him surviving were very less,” an eyewitness told the police.
Car number not noted
Meanwhile, the police said that the speed of the car was so high that no one managed to record the number of the white coloured SUV. “We have obtained a CCTV footage but the number is not clear. We are trying to trace the route and obtaining CCTV footage of nearby area. The car fled towards Mathura-Badarpur Road,” said a senior police officer privy to the case.
