Pre-bid meeting held at AMRCL office

Representatives of five international consortia which have been shortlisted by the Amaravati Metro Rail Corporation Limited (AMRCL) for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Light Rail Transit (LRT) system in Vijayawada, participated in a pre-bid meeting at the AMRCL office here on Friday.

Giving project details, AMRCL Managing Director N.P. Ramakrishna Reddy said the Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) had decided to go for an LRT system following the Ministry of Urban Development’s request to re-submit its original proposal (medium metro) in compliance with the new metro rail policy.

He said that the objective of the fresh DPR was to introduce an integrated and environment and climate-friendly light metro/light rail system in Vijayawada and the bidders were supposed to validate various Mass Rapid Transit System options.

Design options

They are expected to assess the different design options of a light metro/light rail system and also work out the financial and economic internal rates of return.

It may be noted that the German funding bank KfW in consultation with the AMRCL had initiated the process of calling Expressions of Interest in August and shortlisted five consortia from out of nine international consultants who bid for the project.

The five

The consortia which cleared the preliminary selection process are Canada-based CPCS Transcom Limited, German firm GRE Gauff Railway Engineering, RINA Consulting from Italy and French companies Egis Rail SA and Systra.
