A month after he was arrested for allegedly harassing women, Abhishek Goud, son of TRS’s Malkajgiri corporator Jagdish Goud landed behind the bars again on Friday on similar charge.
Rachakonda Cyber Cell nabbed the 20-year-old accused, who was lodged in prison and came out on bail a month ago, on charge of harassing a 25-year-old woman on Facebook.
Cyber cell Inspector Mohammed Riyazuddin said that a woman approached them a month ago stating that she was receiving obscene messages and videos on her FB account. The sender was anonymous and insisted that she chat with him.
“He threatened to upload her morphed pictures on different websites as she refused to chat with him,” the Inspector said. Based on her complaint, the police traced the Facebook account ‘Vara Darling’ through technical evidence and nabbed Abhishek, who turned out to be the accused.
During interrogation he confessed to have created FB account with user name 'vara darling' by uploading profile picture of a girl. “He wanted others to believe it was a girl’s FB account and started sending friend request to women, the police said.
“On learning that a case was registered, Abhishek deleted the data and destroyed his mobile phone. However, we have recovered all the data from cloud,” Mr. Riyazuddin said. The technical evidence would be produced in the court.
Abhishek was booked for stalking, insulting the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation under sections of the Indian Penal Code and also under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act.
Th official said that he had harassed several women in a similar fashion. However, they had not lodged complaints. He was presented in court and remanded in judicial custody.
The accused had discontinued his hotel management studies when he was arrested by Cyber Crimes CCS Hyderabad in similar case last month. He came out on bail.
