NEW DELHI: Actor and filmmaker Prakash Raj, who is known for his vocal criticism of the government, was once again in the spotlight after he posted a tweet on Friday criticizing the rising cases of religious intolerance in the country.
The actor, in his trademark style, tweeted:
This is not the first instance the actor has been critical of the government. In the past, too, the actor has been in the news for his aggressive stance against the central government's policies.
Last month, the actor courted controversy when he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a better actor than him, and that he should, maybe, therefore, give the acting awards he had won to him. The actor while speaking at an event in Bengaluru on October 3 had said, "Gauri Lankesh's killers have not been caught yet. But what is more disappointing is people celebrating her murder over social media and spreading hatred. Some of these people who celebrated her (Gauri's) murder are followed by our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) on Twitter. We have a PM, who shuts his eyes to this."
Following his comment, a case was registered against him in a Lucknow court for his remark against the prime minister.
Since then the actor has shied away from taking direct shots at the government, and, instead, has focused on expressing his opinion via a series of "To whomsoever it may concern" tweets.
