On reaching Egmore on Thursday morning, his found his cash bags missing. Immediately, he lodged a complaint with the GRP at Egmore. He told the police that for business purposes he carried the cash in two bags, each containing Rs 5.75 lakh and Rs 5 lakh. By the time police completed the inquiry, the train coaches were taken to the Tambaram terminal for stabling the rakes.

The police immediately alerted the Tambaram GRP to inspect the coach where Ravikumar travelled. Within a few minutes a railway maintenance worker brought a plastic bag to the Tambaram railway police station, saying that the bag was found abandoned on the platform. It contained Rs 5 lakh in cash.
Police confirmed that the bag belonged to Ravikumar and said it would be handed over to him after completing the due process.
