TV grab of the damaged bus

TUMAKURU: State BJP chief B S Yeddyurappa faced an embarrassment at Banasandra in Turuvekere taluk as some BJP workers led by ousted leader Choudri Nagesh pelted vehicles, including the ‘Parivartana Yatra’ bus, with coconuts on Friday evening.

They had organised a programme hoping that Yeddyurappa would alight and address the gathering. But Yeddyurappa and his team did not stop. They got annoyed and threw coconuts which they had brought to welcome the leaders. The Yatra bus’ windshield was damaged. The glass of another VIP’s car was also smashed. The accused perpetrators waylaid the vehicles.

The police had a tough time controlling the mob. Interestingly, KJP’s symbol is also the coconut.
It may be noted here that Choudri Nagesh braved his father-in-law and Turuvekere JD(S) MLA M T Krishnappa to be with the BJP. Recently, district BJP chief G B Jyothiganesh had suspended him from the party for alleged anti-party activities. In fact, he was against BJP ticket aspirant Masale Jayaram who had contested the 2013 assembly polls on a KJP ticket.
