Members of the medical fraternity organised a demonstration in front of Prakasam Bhavan here on Friday in protest against the State government’s order to certify registered and para-medical and rural medical practitioners (PMPs, RMPs) and allow them to practise after training.

Private Nursing Homes Association, Indian Dental Association, State Junior Doctors’ Association and RIMS Medical Students Association formed a human chain at the Church Centre and burnt the effigy of Swachh Andhra Mission Executive Vice-Chairman C.L. Venkat Rao taking a strong objection to his remarks on medical professionals.

Vizianagaram Correspondent adds: The IMA has condemned reported statement against qualified medical practitioners by Mr. Venkat Rao that RMPs are better than qualified MBBS doctors and demanded an apology from him. At a press conference at IMA conference hall here on Friday, IMA district president Manchu Kumar Swamy demanded that the government scrap GO No. 465 which accorded recognition to RMPs.
