District in-charge and HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao has interactive session, the first of its kind since he was appointed in-charge Minister, with the district officials and asked them not to implement government schemes without the knowledge of elected representatives.
The Minister was to review progress of various activities with the officials from 11 a.m. It was, however, been limited to an interactive session as the Minister arrived at 12.45 p,m. at the Collector’s Conference Hall.
The Minister told officials to work in coordination with elected representatives for better results in ‘NTR Bharosa, MNREGS, Mee Kosam, and various other programmes and erase the stigma of backward district. At the same time, he asked them to follow norms strictly and ensure that the welfare schemes reached the eligible. Stating that some 14 departments are functioning with in-charges, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the vacancies would be filled up shortly.
Minister Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao too has asked officials to give priority to elected representatives as they have thorough knowledge on the happenings at the field-level.
Collector Vivek Yadav briefed the in-charge Minister on the progress on Thotapalli project and land acquisition for Bhogapuram international airport.
Karthika Vana Mahotsavam
Later, the Ministers participated in Karthika Vana Mahotsavam at the Divisional Forest Office. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said that the government had declared ‘ Yeru Vaka’, ‘Jala Siri’ and ‘Vanam-Manam’ as the State events. He asked a gathering of school students to plant a sapling on their birthdays every year and protect them. He said the government had been contemplating weightage marks for students who participate actively in Vanam-Manam. He said that the aim was to increase the present forest cover from 18% in the district to 50% by 2029.
