N.S. Rangaraju, a retired professor of Ancient History and Archaeology, University of Mysore, has been nominated as a technical committee member for exploration and excavation by the Government of Telangana.
He will be part of the team constituted to discover and explore early Buddhist and historical sites in the newly carved out State. Dr. Rangaraju has to guide the team and offer opinions on conservation and excavations, help write technical reports on excavated sites besides publishing the same.
Dr. Rangaraju said the area was part of the rich Satavahana culture and has witnessed excavations during the British period. The Government of Telangana was keen on discovering early historic sites and hence constituted a national-level committee with six members, he added.
