NEW DELHI: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav resorted to a little "toilet" humour to corner Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on a recently surfaced multi-crore scam in the state.

"The Nitish government can conceive a scam at any point of time," Lalu said in a tweet on Saturday.

He was hitting out at the ruling JD(U)-BJP combine over reports of two government officials and four NGOs being charged with misappropriating funds to the tune of over Rs 13.50 crore meant for construction of toilets in the state capital.

Recalling the public vilification that was meted out to him for the fodder scam, Lalu wondered in his trademark dry wit whether the same will happen to Nitish after the toilet scam.

"During the so-called 'chara ghotala' (fodder scam), these people used to say 'Lalu chara kha gaye' (Lalu ate the fodder). Now with this toilet scam, what will people say that Nitish has eaten?" Lalu tweeted.

Lalu has been on the warpath against Nitish after the Bihar CM walked out of the ruling grand alliance, comprising the JD(U), the RJD and Congress, to join hands with the BJP in Bihar.

Nitish, who advocates "zero tolerance on corruption", had cited the numerous graft cases against the RJD chief and his kin as the reason behind his decision to quit the coalition.

"I tolerated a lot, but I couldn't tolerate corruption in RJD. I just couldn't stay in the alliance with RJD any longer when raids started taking place," Nitish had said.

Ever since then, Lalu has been quick to turn the tables on the Bihar CM at the barest hint of wrongdoing within the state government. He'd alleged that Nitish was the "prime accused" in the Rs 1000 crore Srijan scam and demanded his arrest.
