Kerala: Tipsy CPI(M) leader assaults pregnant woman, cops; arrested
According to police, a scuffle ensued after the woman’s car hit the vehicle Antonio Williams and his friends were in, following which they allegedly dragged the woman out of her car and kicked in her stomach.

A local CPI(M) leader and his three friends were arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman and two policemen in inebriated condition after her car hit their vehicle in south Kerala’s Kollam on Thursday night.
According to police, a scuffle ensued after the woman’s car hit the vehicle Antonio Williams, the CPI(M) leader, and his friends were in, following which they allegedly dragged the woman out of her car and kicked in her stomach. They also tried to attack some other motorists who questioned their action.
The woman was on her way to the hospital when the incident occurred.
The police later arrested the CPI(M) leader and his friends with the help of local people.
When they were taken to the police station they created a scene at the station also and attacked two cops who were later hospitalised.
Later some of the locals who witnessed the incident posted a video on social media that turned viral.
In the video, Williams, a panchayat member, was seen shouting ‘inquilab zindabad’ and creating a big ruckus. They also threatened police officials saying they all will be transferred en masse to a distant place.
The CPI(M) Kollam district said the party will take action against the accused leader.
Police later registered a case under sections 332 (voluntarily hurting a public servant and disrupting his work), 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 354 (assault or a criminal force on a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.
