Bhavnagar: A woman and her paramour have been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Bhavnagar court for murdering the woman's husband. The court pronounced its judgement on Friday.

According to the case details, accused Divyarajsinh Gohil and Ilaba Gohel had strangled Nitubha Gohil to death at his residence in Military Society of Ganeshnagar area in Bhavnagar on March 21, 2015. When Nitubha and Ilaba used to live in Khatadi village of Ghogha taluka, Ilaba had come in contact with Divyarajsinh, who was her husband's friend. After frequent meetings, they developed a romantic relationship.

On the fateful night on March 21, Ilaba called Divyarajsinh at her house. While Ilaba and Divyarajsinh were in other room, Nitubha woke up. Sensing trouble, Divyarajsinh hid in the bathroom. However, Nitubha caught him and both got into fisticuffs, during which Divyarajsinh pushed Nitubha on the ground and started strangling him. Ilaba helped Divyarajsinh and both strangled Nitubha to death. After killing him, the accused duo took Nitubha's body in a car to Khatadi village, chopped the body into pieces with an axe and kept it in a sack and threw it in a well of an orchard.

Both were booked for murder on a complaint filed by Nitubha's brother Jagdish Gohel.
