Andhra Pradesh defeat Gujarat by 7 wickets to clinch title of National Cricket Tournament for the Blind

Mumbai: Andhra Pradesh on Friday defeated Gujarat by seven wickets to clinch the title of the 24th National Cricket Tournament for the Blind, the finals of which were held in Mumbai on Friday.

The tournament was hosted by the Cricket Association for the Blind of Maharashtra (CABM).

Winning the toss, Andhra Pradesh chose to field and restricted Gujarat to 250 for 9 in their allotted 35 overs.

For Andhra Pradesh, Durga Rao was pick of the bowlers, returning with impressive figures of 4-28.

Andhra Pradesh batsman T Krishna scored an unbeaten 103 in 97 balls to take his side home. Their captain Ajay Reddy made 32 in 24 balls, while Venkatesh Rao scored 66 in 56 balls.

Andhra Pradesh chased the victory target in 31.3 overs losing just three wickets.

Andhra Pradesh was richer by Rs 50,000, while Gujarat took home a cash award of Rs 30,000.

This tournament served as a platform for selecting the Indian team for the forthcoming 5th ODI World Cup for the Blind at Dubai, scheduled to be held from 7 to 21 January.

The valedictory function was graced former India skipper Ajit Wadekar.
