People waiting to teach ruling party a lesson: Subba Reddy

YSR Congress Party’s chief whip in Parliament Y.V. Subba Reddy on Saturday charged the ruling TDP with trying to put hurdles to party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ‘Praja Sankalpa Yatra’ as it was jittery over the expected public response to the walkathon.

The TDP was trying to create a “Tuni-like incident” during the proposed padayatra from Idupalapaya from November 6, he alleged at a media conference here.

The yatra would be used to mobilise different sections of people with a view to resolving each and every issue confronting them after coming to power, he said.

Farmers, women, youth, and other sections of people were dissatisfied with the TDP’s “misrule” and were waiting for an opportunity to get rid of it, he added.

Without insisting on the YSRCP seeking a written permission for the yatra, the police should provide security and ensure the smooth conduct of the yatra, he said. “Where is the need for seeking a permission when the former Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, then in the Opposition, had embarked on such marches without seeking any permission?” he asked.

Justifying the party’s decision to go on mass contact programme coinciding with the winter session of the Assembly, he said the voice of the Opposition party was being stifled in the Assembly.

Moreover, the TDP had made a mockery of democracy by making those elected on the YSRCP ticket Ministers without insisting on their resignation from the parent party, he said.
