The upcoming Royal Enfield parallel-twin engine which is expected to power two variants of a modern classic model may be a 650 cc parallel-twin engine, and not a 750 cc parallel-twin engine as has been widely speculated and reported. Carandbike.com has learnt that the upcoming Royal Enfield motorcycle which will be unveiled at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy this month, may not get a 750 cc engine after all. Although Royal Enfield is still tightlipped about any details about the bike or the new engine, sources in the know have told carandbike that the new engine could well be a 650 cc parallel-twin after all. The new bike will be unveiled on November 7 at the EICMA show in Milan, Italy, and all details will be revealed then. The bike is slated to be launched later this month in India as well.

Siddhartha Lal, Chief executive Officer and Managing Director of Eicher Motors, the parent company of Royal Enfield, recently shared a teaser video of the bike on social media indicating the bike's imminent arrival. In September this year, even Rudratej (Rudy) Singh, President, Royal Enfield shared a teaser image of the partially visible motorcycle which created a buzz among enthusiasts. The new bikes is believed to be designed and developed at Royal Enfield's technology centre in the UK.

Although specifications and any more details are scarce, we hope the new engine will make at least upwards of 40 bhp and about 50-60 Nm of peak torque. More details will only be revealed when the bike is unveiled at EICMA 2017. The motor will possibly come mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the first motorcycle is likely to be a café race like the Continental GT, based on the spy images that we have seen so far. The second variant will be a modern classic and is likely to be launched in India as well. The new bikes will be the fastest and most powerful Royal Enfield bikes on sale and when it comes to India we expect it to get a price tag of close to ₹ 4 - 4.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
