Pimpri Chinchwad: The local unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is planning to hold an agitation against the shifting of municipal offices to Savitribai Phule Memorial building in Pimpri.
PCMC opposition leader Yogesh Behl said, "An architect appointed by the civic body prepared a plan for constructing a new main office building on an open plot more than a year ago. This plot is located at a short distance from the existing building and is within a walking distance from the Pune-Mumbai highway and the proposed metro station. Therefore, PCMC must construct its new office building here as the said land is in its possession."
A civic official from the water supply department said two elevated water reservoirs will be constructed on a small portion of the plot.
The decision was taken to create space for the SMart Cities Mission office in the PCMC buildling.
