India vs New Zealand T20 LIVE: New Zealand win by 40 runs, level series 1-1

Stay tuned as we bring you live updates from India's second T20 international against New Zealand being played in Rajkot.

  • Nov 04, 10:44 PM (IST)

This win is certain to boost the New Zealanders' confidence going into the final match of both the T20I series and the tour. The Kiwis will look to end the tour on a high with a win in the last match and will hope that Munro's form stays intact, at least till they are all aboard the flight home. India, on the other hand, will have to look back and admit that their batting failed today and stubborn performances by Kohli and Dhoni were never going to be enough chasing a total of 197. Of course, some would argue that for an Indian team that has barely tasted defeat, this one bodes well considering India travel to South Africa at the turn of the new year and will need all the grit and maturity it can muster to bring home laurels from there. Colin Munro has been named Man of the Match for his brilliant century and one wicket.

  • Nov 04, 10:27 PM (IST)

That's the end of the match. Decent last over from Boult to wrap things up in a neat little bow for the Kiwis. New Zealand have now leveled the series 1-1 and will hope for a win in the final game in order to show some silverware for the trip to India.

  • Nov 04, 10:23 PM (IST)

OUT! Dhoni departs after a well played 49. India have all but lost the game now and they will be hoping to learn from this defeat going into the next game, which will decide the fate of the series.

  • Nov 04, 10:22 PM (IST)

SIX! That's a huge from Dhoni. He is providing some entertainment here.

  • Nov 04, 10:16 PM (IST)

FOUR! Dhoni is now looking to get as many as he can.

  • Nov 04, 10:12 PM (IST)

OUT! Axar perishes trying to score quickly. The Kiwis are just running through the motions now.

  • Nov 04, 10:12 PM (IST)

FOUR! Boult comes in to bowl and is flicked away to the fine leg boundary by Axar Patel.

  • Nov 04, 10:07 PM (IST)

OUT! Kohli is gone! He steps out to Santner to go over the top but edges it through to the keeper. That may have just been the final nail on the coffin for today.

  • Nov 04, 10:03 PM (IST)

SIX! Dhoni hits Sodhi high over the mid-wicket boundary.

  • Nov 04, 10:00 PM (IST)

FOUR! Kohli goes down the track this time and finds the fence on the cover boundary.

  • Nov 04, 09:59 PM (IST)

India now need 90 runs from 32 balls.

  • Nov 04, 09:57 PM (IST)

Milne is back with the ball.

  • Nov 04, 09:54 PM (IST)

SIX! And Dhoni makes the Kiwis pay for their mistake immediately. Advances down the track yet again and gets the middle of the bat on the ball this time. The ball sails over long-on.

  • Nov 04, 09:53 PM (IST)

A stroke of luck there for Team India. Dhoni advanced down the track to Sodhi and missed the ball completely but so did Latham behind the stumps. Finally, a stroke of luck for the men in blue.

  • Nov 04, 09:51 PM (IST)

Kohli is now 58 not out and there haven't been too many instances of him getting out between 50 and 100, certainly not when he is in this kind of form.

  • Nov 04, 09:50 PM (IST)

FOUR! That was a typical Kohli shot. It was pitched between middle and leg and Kohli just flicked it to the fence between deep mid wicket and long on.

  • Nov 04, 09:49 PM (IST)

Munro is back for his third over.

  • Nov 04, 09:48 PM (IST)

FOUR! Two steps down and straight down the ground. That's the way Kohli served it up to Santner there. He looks determined to see this one through and India will be hoping that he does.

  • Nov 04, 09:45 PM (IST)

FOUR! Kohli goes straight this time and finds the fence with ease.

  • Nov 04, 09:42 PM (IST)

With 10 overs gone, India now need 126 runs off the remaining 10 overs to win the game. It is an extremely stiff ask to say the least but if anyone can, Kohli can.

  • Nov 04, 09:40 PM (IST)

With Pandya gone, it would now be up to new man Dhoni and his captain Virat Kohli to bear the torch from here on. Can they pull off a miracle here?

  • Nov 04, 09:38 PM (IST)

OUT! Pandya gets beaten completely by that brilliant wrong-un from Sodhi and gets his stumps disturbed. India now 67/4 in the 10th over.

  • Nov 04, 09:36 PM (IST)

"Rockstar" Pandya is the new man in.

  • Nov 04, 09:35 PM (IST)

OUT! It is Munro's day today, surely. Iyer tries to hit that one out of the park but top-edges it to Munro himself. A century and a brilliant caught & bowled on the same day. Take that for fortune.

  • Nov 04, 09:32 PM (IST)

SIX! How easy did make that one look? It was a juicy. full delivery from Santner but Kohli still had to put it away. Just picked it up and deposited it in the stands facing him.

  • Nov 04, 09:28 PM (IST)

FOUR! Kohli goes high this time and clears the in-field to find the cover boundary.

  • Nov 04, 09:27 PM (IST)

FOUR! Nothing wrong on Santner's part there, just quite brilliant from Kohli. Dances down the track and takes the ball on the full to find the point boundary.

  • Nov 04, 09:24 PM (IST)

Ish Sodhi is now into the attack.

  • Nov 04, 09:23 PM (IST)

Good over from Santner, gave almost nothing away. New Zealand will be looking to deliver some more of that to seal the match as soon as possible.

  • Nov 04, 09:21 PM (IST)

Santner now has the ball and he will be looking to put a stopper on the scoring rate here.
