ERODE: A special sub-inspector attached to the special branch of Erode district who had been battling for life since Wednesday night when he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle near Thindal died in a private hospital in Coimbatore on Saturday without responding to the treatment.
The deceased was identified as S Chellamuthu, 56, of Moolapalayam here. The accident took place when he was returning home from his office at 1am on Wednesday (November 1).
When Chellamuthu neared Pavalathampalayam near Thindal, a speeding unknown vehicle knocked him down from bike. Chellamuthu sustained severe head injuries in the accident, police said.
