NEW DELHI: An inverted tricolour at an even in Mauritius on Friday hosting Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister of State Giriraj Singh has resulted in a massive uproar.

The inverted tricolour was placed at the desk where the ministers had stopped to sign the visitor's book.

The gaffe came to light after Singh posted an image on his Twitter account, which caught the attention of social media users.


Social media was quick to hold the ministers responsible for the mistake.

Congress leader Shezhad Poonawalla, Secretary Maharashtra Congress, criticized the ministers for failing to notice the error.


Another Congress leader, Arun Yadav, President Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, questioned the nationalism of the ministers and tweeted:



While other Twitter users urged the minister to rectify the mistake.



The minister duo was visiting the island nation as part of a three-day visit to promote investment opportunities in Uttar Pradesh.
