JAIPUR: After the unfortunate incident of a calf was made prey by stray dogs at an animal shelter home run by Jeev Kalayan Parisahd attached to a government veterinary hospital near Panchbati , captured in a CCTV camera going viral, the hospital administration and the NGO are now passing the bucks.
The incident happened in the wee hours of November 2 was recorded on a CCTV camera installed at the gaushala.
Paras Mehta, general secretary of the NGO said, "Our responsibility is limited to supply of fodder, medicine, etc to the abandoned diseased cows and security of the premise rests with the hospital as the building is of the hospital.
While the hospital authorities claimed that the security of the animals at the goshala is entirely the responsibility of the organization. "We have a night OPD of two compounders and a class IV employee for attending emergencies. They were in the front portion of the building. There is no security staff posted there. The Goshala is located at the back side, said Dr Rajesh Kumar Sharma, deputy director of animal husbandry, who is also the in-charge of the hospital.
When asked how the stray dogs made their way in to the premise he said a portion of the wall collapsed during the rainy season and the same has not yet been restored.
He said, it is the duty of the NGO to ensure the security of the animals kept under their care. They should have fenced the area. He said currently there were about 10 animals in the gaushala.
"There is no night watchman and employees at the Goshala tends the animals during the day and leaves in the evening," admitted Mehta.
Meanwhile an organization, Samajik Anveshan and Shod Sanstha which installed the CCTV camera in the premise has lodged a complaint at the Jalupura police station against the office bearers of the organization demanding action against them under Cruelty to Animals Act.
