The Congress has accused the Narendra Modi government of compromising national security through an ineffective foreign policy.
“False bravado, chest thumping and hyperbole” have become the hallmark of the Centre’s national security and foreign policy, it said.
Party spokesperson RPN Singh said BJP’s compromise of national security in tackling terrorism is reflected in actions like the release of Maulana Masood Azhar, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh in Kandahar, Afghanistan by the previous BJP government.
“It is also intriguing as to how the names of various BJP leaders have cropped up whenever there are questions about links to Dawood Ibrahim. The entire country was witness when several BJP ministers and leaders of the Devendra Fadnavis government recently attended the wedding of a relative of Dawood Ibrahim.
“None less than a member of the BJP’s national executive has now alleged that a Maharashtra leader had links with Dawood, he was forced to resign from his party the very next day, and is now becoming a part of the BJP’s Maharashtra government,” Singh said.
He added that the Congress has fought and suffered the “ugly venom of terrorism”. “Terrorism must be fought relentlessly, intelligently and wisely, and without fear or favour,” he said.
