Maintaining the trend of 100% summer placements, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, this time around, saw a majority of students recruited in the domain of strategy consulting.

The summer placements were conducted for the 2017–19 batch of students between October 29 and November 1. All of the total 401 students, who were eligible for placements, were recruited by over 130 companies in roles such as strategy consulting, analytics, investment banking, capital markets, corporate finance, commercial banking, sales and marketing, business leadership, product management, operations, among others.

Among the offers made, 90 were in the domain of strategy consulting, 21 in business analytics, 27 in investment and capital markets domain, 38 in leadership track or general management. Besides this, 54 offers were made in e-commerce and technology.

IIMB also said the marketing offers in FMCG companies increased from 45 last year to 51 this year.

Ganesh Prabhu, chairperson, Career Development Services, IIMB, in a press release said, “The slight downturn that we observed in the final placements of the batch of 2017, just eight months ago, has been corrected by a major resurge in hiring interest across all sectors for the IIMB summer placements.”

He said the number of companies coming for summer placements had declined, as early recruiters made more offers resulting in fewer students being available for companies that came in later. Harsha Bhattad, student placement representative at IIMB, said in the release, “IIMB continues to be the preferred campus for consulting, finance and analytics profiles with many firms increasing their usual number of offers. Marketing offers have also substantially increased this year with greater interest from top recruiters and students in this domain.”
