“Are we late?” Vikramaditya Singh asks as he adjusts his Bushehri cap and gets into the car from Holly Lodge, his father and CM Virbhadra Singh’s home in Jakhoo near Shimla.

As he makes his debut in the November 9 polls, Singh is all set to inherit his father’s legacy. His constituency – Shimla Rural – is just the beginning.

“I have been working in the constituency since 2012. That time was the first time my father fought from Shimla Rural,” he says as he drives through the vast picturesque constituency spread across hills beyond the state capital.

But as Vikramaditya interacts with Congress workers and his constituents, he appears nervous. “There could have been better people contact in this constituency,” he says, adding his father is revered and loved across the state but the bastion remains Rohru.

Vikramaditya has been campaigning tirelessly. His day starts with campaigning across villages from 9 am till late in the evening. He ends his day by checking social networking sites to check how the party is faring with the youth. But what has stumped the First Family of HP is BJP candidate Pramod Sharma.

It is common knowledge in the political circles that Sharma is a creation of the octogenarian CM who is said to have funded him to fight as an independent against Congress veteran Vidya Stokes in two previous elections.
