BENGALURU: Despite the low job market, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) witnessed increasing participation by firms from various domains during its summer placements for the class of 2017-19. The placements took place between October 29 and November 1.An official communication by IIMB confirmed that all 401 eligible two-year post-graduation programme students were recruited by 130 companies.

The recruitment was done within the three slots in roles such as strategy consulting, analytics, investment banking, capital markets, corporate finance, commercial banking, sales and marketing and product management.

Prof Ganesh Prabhu, Chairperson, Career Development Services, IIMB, said, “We had witnessed a slight downturn in the final placements of the batch of 2017, just eight months ago. But this has been corrected by a major resurge in hiring interest across all sectors for the IIMB summer placements.”

Harsha Bhattad, a student placement representative at IIMB, said, “IIMB continues to be the preferred campus for consulting, finance and analytics profiles with many firms increasing their usual number of offers. Marketing offers have also substantially increased this year with greater interest from top recruiters and students.”
