State Bank of India has hired a surveyor to access the loss due to the fire in its global markets office in Kolkata a fortnight back.

The fire which broke out at the 16th floor of Jeevan Sudha building owned by Life Insurance Corporation of India has damaged three floors and interiors of the SBI office.

"It is difficult to access the loss. So we hired a surveyor," SBI's chief general manager in Kolkata told ET Friday. "We are on rent bit it was insured," he said.

SBI occupies 11th floor to 19th floor of the building, which stands between the Tata group's corporate office called Tata Centre and Jeevan Deep, another important landmark.

There was no casualty as it was a holiday on account of Kali Puja. Sengupta said there was no loss of data as every detail is computerised.

SBI has recently chosen Office 365, the cloud powered productivity solution from Microsoft to improve communication and collaboration among its workforce.
