Ittefaq celeb review: The remake is a well-made thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat, say B-town stars

Half of tinsel town reached the YRF studios on Thursday to watch the murder mystery Ittefaq starring Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Akshaye Khanna. The film co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar had a no promotions policy and also the makers refrained from holding any media screening to keep the suspense of the climax safe. But on Thursday, Bollywood actors got to watch the movie and as they watched it, none could stop calling it an edge of the seat thriller. Present at the screening were Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Padmini Kolhapuri, Poonam Dhillon, Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan along with friend Ananya Pandey.

Tweeting about the film, Ayushmann wrote, “Watched #Ittefaq & I couldn’t guess the muderer till the end. Great stuff @S1dharthM @sonakshisinha Akshaye Khanna. Proud of Abhay & juno✌️👏” This whodunit movie also impressed Ayushmann’s Bareilly Ki Barfi co-actor Kriti Sanon who tweeted, “#Ittefaq is a well made thriller tht keeps u guessing..with a pacy climax! Go watch it guys! 👍🏻👏🏻 @abhayrchopra @S1dharthM @sonakshisinha 🤗.”

Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari also gave her view about the Abhay Chopra directorial as she wrote, “Get on 2 the edge of ur seats wth #Ittefaq when u feel something is abt 2 end.It begins again. Experience the mystery & smile only 2 urself!”

Shah Rukh Khan retweeted Juhi Chawla who had posted a picture with his daughter Suhana from the Ittefaq screening.

Ittefaq is a remake of 1969 film of the same name which had Rajesh Khanna and Nanda in the lead roles. The trade analysts are considering it to be a word-of-mouth film since the lead actors of the movie haven’t promoted the movie. Trade Analyst Girish Johar told indianexpress.com, “Ittefaq is a word-of-mouth film and they have promoted it very smartly. I feel it should open somewhere around Rs 3 or Rs 3.5 crore mark. It can also make Rs 4 crore. The trailer of the film has already garnered a lot of publicity and now if the content of the film turns out to be worthy, it is sure to make Rs 13 to Rs 15 crore or even more by the first weekend.”
