16 stolen vehicles recovered, police arrest three persons

AHMEDABAD: A team of Kanbha police station have arrested three youths for their involvement in string of vehicle thefts from Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad district, Gandhinagar and Kheda districts over a period of one year and have recovered 16 vehicles including bikes and scooters worth Rs 5.39 lakh.


"A team led by sub-inspector J D Devda got information about a group involved in vehicle thefts and nabbed Zakir Shah Fakir, Bhavin Parmar, both residents of Pasunj village, and Govind Rathod, a resident of Sarkhej, from near Chandiyel check post and seized a stolen bike," said an Ahmedabad rural police official.


K T Kamariya, DSP, Sanand, said that the trio was using a master key and thus primarily targeted vehicles of specific make. "They frequently incurred debts due to their wayward lifestyle and thus were always short of money. They used to pawn the stolen bikes for Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 to the lender or someone else to raise the money," he said.


Kamariya added that so far police have found 12 offences of vehicle thefts registered with Naroda, Odhav, Nikol and Sardarnagar police station in Ahmedabad city, Dehgam and Sector 21 police stations of Gandhinagar and Nadiad police station of Kheda district.
