ICDS to the rescue of minor from bihar

ELURU:  The Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials freed a minor girl from the clutches of an assistant bank manager, who tortured her by not offering food.According to sources, Subhash Anand of Bihar, was transferred to Indian Bank, NR Peta Branch, as assistant manager. The family members of Anand brought a 10-year-old girl from Bihar seven months ago. It is alleged that Anand and his family members did not offer her food and tortured her.

The girl sneaked out of the house and narrated her plight to the neighbours. On learning about the incident, an ASI who was also residing in the same building at Bank Colony in Xavier Nagar, lodged a complaint with the ICDS officials.The ICDS officials immediately sent child development project officer (CDPO) Surya Chakraveni to the house of the assistant bank manager. The official spoke to the girl. She asked the girl whether she would like to stay in the house for which the latter replied in the negative. 

The ICDS officials contacted the girl’s parents over phone. The Labour officials reached the house and asked the assistant bank manager to issue a bond for `20,000 in the name of the girl. They said that after getting the bond, they would call the parents and hand it over to them. The officials shifted the girl to Sudhar Home in Denduluru. Subhash Anand said they brought the girl here to look after her. “We never tortured the girl. We looked after her as our own child,” he said. The bank official said that as she wanted to leave the place, he had booked a ticket for her to go to Bihar on Friday. “I have made all the arrangements to send the girl back to her parents,” he added.
