NEW DELHI: Most of the metal stocks, including Steel Authority of India (SAIL) (up 5.70 per cent), Hindustan Copper (up 5.58 per cent) and National Aluminium Company (NALCO) (up 2.96 per cent) were trading up in Friday's trade.

The Nifty Metal index was trading 0.32 per cent up at 3,954 around 11:15 am (IST).

Shares of Hindalco Industries (up 0.79 per cent), Jindal Steel & Power (up 0.71 per cent), Hindustan Zinc (up 0.70 per cent), APL Apollo Tubes (up 0.60 per cent), Welspun Corp (up 0.22 per cent), Tata Steel (up 0.21 per cent), MOIL (up 0.18 per cent) and JSW Steel (up 0.11 per cent) were also trading up.

However, Jindal Stainless (Hisar) (down 1.26 per cent), Coal India (down 0.88 per cent), Vedanta (down 0.29 per cent) and NMDC (down 0.08 per cent) were in the red around that time.

Equity benchmarks were in the positive territory due to buying in select bank, metal, IT and oil & gas stocks.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was 20 points up at 10,443, while the BSE Sensex was 75 points up at 33,648.
