With Indian consumer’s food habits fast evolving, ten key segments have been identified by global consultancy firm EY as the new high-growth segments in the food and beverage industry.

These segments include breakfast cereals, savoury snacks, ingredients, pet-food market, naturally healthy beverages, ready meals, confectionary, organic food, dairy and bakery.

Aashish Kasad, Partner and Consumer Products, and Retail Sector Tax Leader, EY India, said that certain segments such as breakfast cereals, organic food, dairy food, naturally healthy beverages are witnessing double-digit growth in India and are gaining immense acceptance among the Indian consumers.

The report stated that besides India’s strong macro-indicators and production base, there are several key factors that have led to an increase in the consumption of these fast-growing food and beverage segments in India.

These include the affluence of working population with higher disposable incomes and rising urbanisation, among other factors.
