Delegation from Israel visits Southern Command, NDA

PUNE: Chief of Ground Forces of Israel Major-General Yacov (Kobi) Barak visited the Southern Command Headquarters and National Defence Academy (NDA) on Thursday with his delegation.

The Israeli chief was given a brief of activities of the Southern Command. He then interacted with army commander Lt Gen P M Hariz.

Air Marshal J S Kler, the commandant of NDA, and deputy commandant Rear Admiral S K Grewal received the delegation at the academy. A senior officer of NDA told TOI, "A detailed presentation on the academy's training was given to the delegation. The commandant also apprised them of the academy's functioning."


Later, the delegation visited all the three NDA training teams (Army, Navy and Air Force) as well as Kilo squadron.


The officer said, "The delegation was pretty impressed with the Central Cadets' Mess, one of the exclusive symbols of solidarity and brotherhood among cadets. The mess can accommodate over 2,100 cadets at a time."


The six-member high-level delegation had visited Armoured Corps Centre and School at Ahmednagar on Wednesday with a view to be acquainted with the methodology of the training at the premier training institution of the Indian Army.
