Shaastra tech fest from Jan 4

CHENNAI: Shaastra, the annual technical festival of IIT-Madras with an expected annual footfall of more than 40,000 participants and visitors, is the one of the biggest inter-college fests in Asia. It is also one of the student-managed events in the world and the first-ever festival to be ISO-certified. The 19th edition of Shaastra is being held between Jan 4 to 7, 2018.

The theme of Shaastra 2018 is “Shaastra 3018” and deals with what the future world has in store for us in the fields of science, engineering, technology and other related avenues which include clean energy, industry 4.0, autonomous vehicles and a lot more.

The major events are carbon zero challenge, wherein 26 teams have been shortlisted for the prototyping stage, where they will receive funding and mentorship from experts in the US and India to materialise their ideas. With a corpus of `1.5 crore towards prototyping fund and prize money, this is one of the largest events in Shaastra so far.
