KOCHI: As many as 194 persons were arrested for various offences during a special two-week drive by the police in the districts falling under the Kochi Range. The drive, launched to check felonious activities in the region, was held on the directive of P. Vijayan, Inspector General of Police, Kochi Range. It ended on October 31.
Action was initiated against 2,267 persons for illegal mining, gambling, drinking in public, and drug peddling. As many as 52 persons wanted in various criminal cases and 3,020 others, against whom warrants had been pending, were produced before court.
Action has been recommended against 38 persons under Cr.PC 107 and seven others under the Goonda Act.
